Jason Isbell and Ben Folds were targeted by the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in a press release issued today criticizing Democratic Tennessee Senate candidate Phil Bredesen. Isbell and Folds are scheduled to play a benefit concert for Bredesen in Nashville tonight. The NRSC named the musicians part of what they call the “unhinged left,” referencing Folds’ past support for Bernie Sanders and Isbell’s criticism of Trump voters.

Bredesen was governor of Tennessee from 2003 to 2011. He is running against Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn for the Senate seat. The NRSC is headed by two sitting Senate members, Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC).
