James Cameron Promises to Reveal ‘Avatar’ Ending if ‘Fire and Ash’ Fails

Legendary filmmaker James Cameron has outlined his contingency strategy in the event that the third Avatar installment, Fire and Ash, delivers underwhelming box office results.

The director stated that he is prepared to convene a special press briefing to disclose the intended narrative resolutions for the fourth and fifth chapters of the epic saga, ensuring the story is told even if the films are never produced.

“I’m not certain if the saga will proceed beyond this point. I certainly hope it does. But, as you know, we have to prove our commercial viability with every release… If, for whatever reason, we are unable to bring the fourth and fifth films to life, I will host a press conference and walk you through our planned conclusion. How does that sound?” Cameron remarked during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Disney reportedly invested $400 million into the production of Fire and Ash. Having debuted just last week, the film has already surpassed $544 million in global earnings. As of now, the fourth Avatar entry is slated for a December 2029 release, followed by the fifth in December 2031.
