Is Metal Gear Solid 4 Coming to Next-Gen Consoles? Konami Confirms Master Collection Vol. 2

Fans of Metal Gear Solid can breathe a sigh of relief — producer Noriaki Okamura has confirmed that Master Collection Volume 2 is in development. This gives genuine hope that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will finally be made available outside the PlayStation 3 ecosystem.

Although specific details have been scarce, Okamura noted at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 that the collection is being developed in parallel with the remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

“The project has been underway for quite some time, and the collection is moving forward — we want to show progress as soon as possible. Please be patient a little longer,” the producer said.

Since the release of Master Collection Vol. 1, speculation about the contents of the second volume has persisted. The leading expectation is a port of MGS4, which was built exclusively for the PS3 and long represented a major technical obstacle to re-releasing.

Konami assures that the project is in capable hands and that further details will be revealed soon.
