IO Interactive to Release New Hitman Following 007: First Light
IO Interactive is currently developing 007: First Light, but CEO Hakan Abrak has assured that Hitman will not be left behind.
In a recent interview he pointed out that the studio generally focuses on creating original franchises, and the Bond project is the only title developed under an external license.
We’ve built other original franchises — Bond is, in fact, the only externally licensed project we’ve worked on. That said, Hitman has always been our flagship title.
Abrak also noted that Hitman 3, packaged within the Hitman: World of Assassination compilation, won’t be the final entry in the series. The studio has several projects in development, including a cooperative mode for Hitman:
There will, of course, be another Hitman. However, the cooperative experience will launch first, and only afterward will we start discussing a new mainline entry.
007: First Light is scheduled to release on March 27, 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
