On June 20, it was announced that Mafia: The Old Country has gone gold — this means the final version has been sent for physical production and to digital stores. Further fixes will be applied with a day-one patch and subsequent updates.

Four days later, an official FAQ appeared on reddit.com revealing some new details.
- There are no plans for multiplayer.
- There are no plans for story expansions either.
Last Wednesday, July 2, it was announced that 2.5 million players have added the Mafia prequel to their wishlists on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store. This doesn’t ensure those sales at launch, but it clearly demonstrates public interest.

Between these announcements, a new developer diary was released — the fifth one. It detailed how the team at Hangar 13 worked on the sound for weapons, vehicles, and more. Real prototypes used for recording and recreating sounds were shown, and the presence of a train or multiple trains in the game was confirmed.
At the end of June, last week, IGN announced that every Monday in July, exclusive content about the new part of the franchise will be released on their website and YouTube channel. Today marks the first of these Mondays, and they have prepared a full 9 minutes of gameplay. The video covers part of the fifth chapter but is edited to avoid spoilers. Enzo receives a mission from Don Torrisi, meets with an armorer named Valerio, picks out an arsenal, and then heads off in a car to solve a problem. At the start of the mission, the protagonist goes into stealth mode: tossing coins to distract enemies and throwing knives. But the confrontation quickly becomes open, showing the protagonist in a shootout, throwing grenades, and restoring health with a bandage on his arm.
Next Monday, journalists will publish a preview based on three hours of gameplay from Mafia: The Old Country. So, expect fresh and interesting details.
