Marvel fans may have new content to watch between upcoming Avengers films.

Reliable insider James Mack reported that Marvel Studios is developing two special presentations for Disney+ scheduled to premiere in 2027.

According to his information, one project will focus on an individual character, while the second will center on a team of heroes. Character names, plot details, and exact release dates are not yet disclosed.

Earlier rumors pointed to a potential special dedicated to Mystique, and insider Daniel Richtman mentioned that filming for a secret project will begin in January, with Ahmed Abdol, the Living Monolith, reportedly serving as its protagonist.

The Special Presentation format allows Marvel to tell standalone stories where a full series would be excessive and producing a feature film for a theatrical release would be unjustified. The first such project was the 2022 black-and-white horror film Werewolf by Night, which introduced viewers to Jack Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, and Man-Thing.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was released that same year, and Marvel returned to the format in 2026 with The Punisher: Final Kill, in which Jon Bernthal reprised his role as Frank Castle ahead of his return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Marvel Studios has not yet officially announced any specials for 2027. However, the company previously stated that no films will be released between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. This restriction does not apply to special presentations, meaning they could fill the gap between the two major Phase Six blockbusters.
