Something interesting is unfolding on Steam — and it’s not just the runaway success of Escape from Duckov.
Vampire: Bloodlines 2 quickly fell off the bestseller list after facing a torrent of criticism. Ninja Gaiden 4 also failed to make a splash — its peak concurrent players barely passed 11,000. By contrast, indie releases are posting standout results.
Alongside Escape from Duckov’s strong sales, Dispatch has climbed into the top ranks, landing in third place on Steam’s charts. The title is a “superhero comedy” from AdHoc, a studio formed by former developers of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us who set out to build their own independent team.
The surprises don’t end there. Cooperative indie RV There Yet? from Nuggets Entertainment enjoyed an excellent debut. Players journey in an RV, completing tasks along the way. Since its release on October 21, the project has reached nearly 36,000 concurrent players. RV There Yet? currently sits at sixth place among Steam’s top-selling games.
