Ninajirachi had every reason to be radiant when she visited the Australian Broadcasting Corporation studios on
the morning of Friday, November 7, 2025. The following night she had picked up one of Australia’s most
prestigious honors.
On Thursday evening the songwriter, producer and DJ accepted the Australian Music Prize for her debut LP,
I Love My Computer (NLV Records), marking a major milestone in her career.
The AMP recognizes excellence in album-making rather than commercial performance; the winner is chosen by a
panel of industry figures and receives both a trophy and a A$50,000 prize.
Speaking to ABC’s News Breakfast after her win, she said, “I feel so awesome — nothing like this has ever
happened to me. It’s kind of crazy, but it’s really awesome.” Being shortlisted alone was “so flattering,” she
added, and the victory still felt unexpected.
At 26, the AMP trophy is only the beginning. Later this month Ninajirachi (born Nina Wilson) is up for two J
Awards, including the triple j Album of the Year category, and she’s nominated for multiple ARIA Awards —
among them Album of the Year, Best Solo Artist, the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award, Best
Independent Release and Best Dance/Electronic Release.
From November 28 she launches an Australian tour that mixes headline dates and festival appearances. She
then heads to New Zealand in early January before beginning a U.S. run on January 15 with a sold-out show at
Holocene in Portland, Oregon. Her spring schedule includes a first-time performance at Coachella’s Empire
Polo Club in Indio, California, plus additional international stops yet to be announced. For full dates see
her official schedule.
On performing at Coachella she said she’s “so excited” and eager to experience the festival — a bucket-list
moment she’s been looking forward to for years.
Reflecting on the year, she explained that the joy of making the record has driven her: “I just had a good time
making an album. I hope I can keep making albums that feel as good as this one did. I’ve been making music
for a long time and could never have predicted what this year would bring. I just hope it keeps feeling as fun
as it has been lately.”
