Exciting updates from the heart of the Prairie State have just arrived! In today’s development blog, we are thrilled to showcase the ongoing progress of the Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator. While major metropolitan hubs are vital to your journey, the smaller settlements scattered across the landscape provide the true character of the state. Let’s take a closer look at a few of the towns you’ll encounter on your travels.

Beyond the bustling industrial centers, our cartography team is meticulously crafting 11 distinct settlements to bring the Illinois countryside to life. These locations serve as essential milestones during long-haul deliveries, each offering its own unique atmosphere and history.
Monmouth
Positioned near the Iowa border in western Illinois, Monmouth is often one of the first sights drivers will see when entering the state from the northwest. Established in 1831, this historic community serves as the seat of Warren County. Deeply rooted in the agricultural sector, the town is celebrated for its vibrant local culture, including annual festivals dedicated to maple and beef. In-game, drivers will recognize the town by its faithfully recreated landmarks, such as the grand Warren County Courthouse and the Monmouth City Hall.

Macomb
Heading south along Route 67 brings you to Macomb, the historic heart of McDonough County. Founded in 1829, Macomb is famous for its “Macombopoly” installation—a massive tribute to a world-famous board game. Oversized game pieces decorate the lawn of the McDonough County Courthouse, honoring a local resident who helped inspire the game’s creation. We have captured this whimsical piece of local heritage by including a detailed recreation of the courthouse and its commemorative statues in our map expansion.

El Paso
Situated at the strategic crossroads of Interstate 39 and Route 24, El Paso is a tight-knit community with a rich industrial past. Once a vital nerve center for the railroad, the town’s local freight depot is now a protected site on the National Register of Historic Places. While it once managed heavy rail traffic, the building now serves as an archbishop center and stands as a prominent local landmark that our team has carefully brought to life in the game.

Chenoa
Nestled in McLean County, Chenoa is a quintessential stop along the legendary Route 66. To capture the spirit of the “Mother Road,” we have integrated roadside attractions inspired by real-world landmarks found in Chenoa. Keep an eye out for the charming, historic red wooden house that now functions as a local gift shop, serving as a nostalgic reminder of the golden age of American road travel.

Gilman
Continuing east along Route 24, drivers will arrive in Gilman. Situated at the busy intersection of Interstate 57, Route 24, and Route 45, the town has earned the appropriate moniker “The City of the Crossroads.” You will see this proud title reflected on the town’s welcome signage as you pass through this transit hub.
Beardstown
Located in the western reaches of the state, Beardstown sits gracefully along a bend in the Illinois River, earning it the nickname “Belle of the Bend.” The town’s history dates back to 1819, when Thomas Beard established a ferry service and a frontier trading post. This deep connection to the river and early commerce continues to define the town’s identity today.
