Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Severance) have officially joined the ensemble for Prime Video’s live-action God of War series.
Patinkin is set to portray the All-Father, Odin, while Ólafsson will take on the role of the thunder god, Thor. They join a growing lineup for the high-profile video game adaptation that already includes Ryan Hurst, Teresa Palmer, and Max Parker.
The plot follows Kratos, a legendary warrior navigating the treacherous realms of Norse mythology. Bound by the final wishes of his late wife, he embarks on a perilous journey with his son, Atreus, to the highest peak to scatter her ashes. Along the way, Kratos must confront not only fearsome monsters but also his own deep-seated rage as he strives to connect with his son.
Ronald D. Moore (Outlander) serves as the project’s showrunner. A specific premiere date for the series has not yet been established.
