Hit the Keyboard — Got VAC-Banned in Counter-Strike 2: Blogger Ran an Experiment and Revealed the Results

A VAC ban incident caught a player’s attention, prompting him to investigate further.

The creator of the YouTube channel Mzkshow was recently sent a clip: a user playing Counter-Strike 2 in Premier mode panicked after a death and slammed his keyboard — shortly afterward he received a VAC ban.

The streamer found the story intriguing and decided to run an experiment. In normal competitive matches, after every death Mzkshow began hitting his keyboard — the system kicked him out, but no VAC ban appeared. A string of follow-up tests also failed to produce a ban; he was only removed from the matches.

Mzkshow continued digging and requested the player’s config, where he found an old (already patched) teleport bind.

He suggested that during the keyboard strike the player might have accidentally triggered that bind and the system reacted, but across several days of testing it still resulted only in kicks. Eventually, however, Mzkshow did receive a VAC ban during a casual game while using that cfg.

It seems possible to be penalized for striking the keyboard while playing Counter-Strike 2, but for the typical player a ban is unlikely — most cases should end with a simple kick from the game.
