Hints of New Music from NewJeans: ‘Preparation and Hard Practice in Progress’

NewDenims brought the enjoyable to Billboard’s Women in Music occasion on Wednesday evening (March 6), where they took the phase to execute a high-energy mash-up of “ETA” and their viral hit, “Super Shy,” prior to approving the Group of the Year honor.

Earlier in the evening, the team dropped in to talk with Billboard on the red rug, where they were inquired about exploring and brand-new songs strategies. “We can’t spoil too much, but I’m just going to say that we’re preparing and we’re practicing hard,” Danielle discreetly disclosed. “We can’t wait to share new music with everyone. We’re really looking forward to it.”

On whether they understood “Super Shy” was mosting likely to be a hit, the women concurred that they enjoyed the track from the beginning. “When we first heard it, we were all like, ‘This is so catchy,’” Danielle claimed, prior to Hanni included, “It was stuck in our heads when we were making it.”

Danielle proceeded, “It’s really the choreography and the feel of everyone dancing together and having fun, that really makes it a song that’s like, ‘We’re together. We can do this together.’”

In 2023, Get Up — the team’s student EP — debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (graph dated Aug. 5, 2023), slipping by the star-studded Barbie soundtrack by simply 500 devices. Get Up additionally struck No. 1 on Top Album Sales, Tastemaker Albums and World Albums (10 weeks).
