Hilary Duff Says Her New Music Is Made “For” Her Gay Fans — and Could Arrive Very Soon

Published Oct. 27, 2025

A longtime ally of the LGBTQ+ community, Hilary Duff says her forthcoming music carries special meaning for her queer listeners.

In an interview with Variety published on Monday, Oct. 27, Duff discussed her return to music after signing with Atlantic Records in September. Asked about the enthusiasm from her gay fanbase, she gave a succinct response: “You know it’s all for them. It’s just to impress them.”

Duff has consistently praised and supported LGBTQ+ fans. In a 2022 interview about her role on the Hulu sitcom How I Met Your Father, she described feeling indebted to the community — calling it “so vocal” in its support of her career and saying she “owes the community everything.” Read the full interview.

One of Duff’s most memorable contributions to anti-bullying efforts was her 2008 appearance in the Think Before You Speak campaign, which aimed to discourage the use of “that’s so gay” as an insult. In the spot, Duff corrects a teen who casually uses the slur and uses a wry aside to highlight how hurtful such language can be.

On the subject of new music, Duff hinted that fans might not have to wait long. “We’re getting something really soon,” she told Variety. “I have been hard at work in the studio with my husband and a few other amazingly talented people. [My fans] are going to hear something so soon, like in the blink of an eye.”
