Hilary Duff Says Her New Music Is Made With Her LGBTQ+ Fans in Mind
Published October 27, 2025

Hilary Duff — a consistent and outspoken supporter of LGBTQ+ communities — told Variety on October 27, 2025, that her forthcoming music is being crafted with her queer audience squarely in mind. Speaking about her return after signing with Atlantic Records in September 2025, Duff summed up her motivation plainly: “You know it’s all for them. It’s just to impress them.”
Duff has repeatedly acknowledged the role LGBTQ+ fans have played in her career. In a 2022 interview about her work on the Hulu series How I Met Your Father, she credited that community with staunch support for her professional life and said she felt deeply grateful for their advocacy.
One of Duff’s most memorable public acts of allyship came in 2008, when she appeared in a Think Before You Speak public-service announcement aimed at discouraging the use of “that’s so gay” as an insult. In the spot she calls out the casual dismissal and reframes the language, using humor to underline how hurtful offhand phrases can be.
On the timing of her new music, Duff told Variety listeners to expect material very soon. She revealed she’s been working closely in the studio with her husband and other collaborators and hinted that fans will hear something “in the blink of an eye.”
