Helldivers 2 Forever: No Sequel Planned, but the Game Will Live On for Years

The head of Arrowhead Games said there are currently no plans for a Helldivers 2 sequel, even though he previously mentioned ideas for Helldivers 3. Rather than rushing a follow-up, the team intends to make the game a long-running service — similar to RuneScape, which has been supported for years and keeps a dedicated player base.

Helldivers 2 comfortably ranks among today’s most popular live-service titles thanks to its atmosphere, varied missions, and engaging gameplay. Many players hoped a sequel would bring big changes, but that now seems unlikely.

Arrowhead’s leader, Shams Georgani, replied to a fan’s question about a direct continuation on the official Helldivers 2 Discord:

“There are no plans for Helldivers 3 — just Helldivers 2 for as long as we can. Think RuneScape.”

He explained the studio is concentrating on the current game and plans to evolve it over many years, gradually enhancing the experience for players.

Arrowhead regards Helldivers 2 as a “forever game.” Despite the title’s success, persistent technical issues and quality gaps remain that can’t be solved with a single patch, so long-term support takes precedence over a quick sequel.
