Hasbro Celebrates 40 Years of ‘The Transformers: The Movie’ With ‘Reformatted’ Soundtrack Featuring Stan Bush

A cinematic legacy is getting a sonic overhaul this summer. On July 24, a brand-new, reimagined collection is set to drop, breathing fresh life into a soundtrack that has remained a cult favorite for decades.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1986 animated classic The Transformers: The Movie—a film that defined childhood wonder and high-stakes adventure long before Hollywood’s live-action spectacles—Hasbro is unveiling The Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition. This project serves as a comprehensive reimagining of the original 10-track lineup, spanning everything from gritty heavy metal anthems and soaring power ballads to the delightfully quirky synth-pop numbers that fans know by heart.

The spirit of the original release remains intact, anchored by the return of its most iconic voice. Stan Bush, the legendary singer behind the high-octane hits “The Touch” and “Dare,” has rejoined the fray to bring his signature energy back to the Autobot-Decepticon conflict.

“I am genuinely thrilled to revisit ‘The Touch’ for this reformatted soundtrack. It’s truly special to return to a song that has resonated with so many people over the years,” Bush shared. “The team behind these new recordings did an incredible job. It’s time for fans to feel that power once again—you’ve got the touch!”

The album features a powerhouse lineup led by The Knights of Unicron, featuring musicians Gus Rios, Matt Harvey, and Ross Sewage. The project also boasts guest contributions from metal vocalist Sebastian Bach on “Nothin’s Gonna Stand In Our Way” and powerhouse vocalist Brittney Slayes on the iconic theme song.

The production, overseen by Matt LaPlant, welcomes back original composer Vince DiCola. Further additions include Mark Osegueda tackling “Hunger,” Francesco Cavalieri updating “Instruments of Destruction,” and Torch taking on the parody classic “Dare to Be Stupid.”

The Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition is a joint venture between Hasbro and Reigning Phoenix Music. It arrives on all major streaming platforms July 24, with special limited-edition vinyl pressings also available for preorder here.

The 40th-anniversary festivities extend well beyond the record store. Starting September 17, the original film will make a triumphant return to theaters. Audiences will have the rare opportunity to experience the 1986 classic on the big screen, fully remastered in 4K, showcasing Optimus Prime and his allies in unprecedented visual fidelity.
