Halsey returned to the stage for the Back to Badlands Tour but made it clear there’s no tolerance for poor behavior from the audience. At the Nov. 3, 2025 performance in Boston, a concertgoer shouted for the singer to “stop talking and play,” interrupting a moment when Halsey was speaking to the crowd.
Halsey responded immediately and firmly, telling the person to mind their manners and asserting that she would perform what she chose. Video clips from the show — shared online — capture the exchange and the artist’s pointed reply.
In the early hours of Nov. 4, 2025, Halsey addressed the incident on X, writing that she’s been cordial but won’t allow anyone to dictate her setlist: “I’ve been polite but won’t be caught dead letting a man tell me what I should play in my set.”
When fans asked for clarification, Halsey explained the fan had told her to “stop talking and play ____,” adding emphatically, “NOT IN MY HOUSE!”
Earlier on the same day as the second Boston show, Halsey shared on Instagram Stories that a minor medical issue required a trip to the ER that ran until about 6:00 a.m.; she noted she was fine and ready to perform, thanking staff who assisted her and saying she would be pacing herself through the night.
Halsey has been open this year about ongoing health challenges, including a diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Ahead of the tour — which marks the 10th anniversary of her debut album Badlands — she said she underwent “a few sessions” of chemotherapy.
Below are Halsey’s posts about the onstage interruption and her response.
