Hades II and its 2025 Best Game on Steam Deck award

Hades II won Best Game on Steam Deck in the 2025 Steam Awards. Valve published the results on January 3, 2026, after Steam users selected both the nominees and the winners during the winter voting period.

A community-voted category

Best Game on Steam Deck is a separate category from Steam’s overall Game of the Year. Valve describes it as recognition for a game that works especially well on the handheld. The result came from participating Steam users rather than a jury or a technical certification programme.

The other finalists were CloverPit, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, BALL x PIT, and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Hades II led the final community vote and earned Supergiant Games its first Steam Award.

Supergiant’s response

Supergiant thanked players for the nomination and victory. The studio highlighted the game’s suitability for portable play, from short encounters to longer runs through the Underworld, and praised the Steam Deck version’s performance.

Hades II is built around repeated runs, but progression, character conversations, weapon upgrades, and story events continue between attempts. The structure allows a player to clear a room or short sequence, suspend the handheld, and return without starting the entire session again.

The 2025 Steam Awards result

The award belongs specifically to Valve’s 2025 community event. Hades II also received honours from other organisations during the year, but those were separate programmes with different voters and categories. Valve’s results page lists all Steam Award winners, while Supergiant’s announcement records the studio’s response.
