Guns of Eschaton Announced: A Mystical Souls-like Western Shooter from Legendary Designer Viktor Antonov

The visual designer behind the art direction of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored died in 2025.

Eschatology Entertainment and publisher 4Divinity revealed Guns of Eschaton, a first-person shooter blending occult Western aesthetics with the punishing combat mechanics of souls-like games.

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of 19th-century America. Players take the role of a lone gunslinger traveling from the Wild West to the East Coast. Success depends on resource management and tactical planning rather than simple reflexes.

Combat centers on ammunition types, parrying, dodging, and a system called the Codex. This mechanic reveals enemy weaknesses through study.

Players can customize their characters through various firearms, occult abilities, talismans, armor, and passive skills. These combinations support different playstyles in both solo and cooperative modes.

The game features online co-op with fully synchronized progress for all participants. The developers have not announced the maximum player count for sessions.

Guns of Eschaton represents the final original universe shaped by art director Viktor Antonov, who passed away last year. Antonov also contributed to Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.

Eschatology Entertainment CEO Fuad Kuliev stated that the studio worked with Antonov on the game’s core themes and concepts from the start. The team relied on his creative vision throughout the development process to ensure the final product reflects his influence.

Guns of Eschaton will release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the developers have not set a release date, the game now has a dedicated Steam page.
