Guillermo del Toro Defends Netflix

During a recent Q&A session, Frankenstein director Guillermo del Toro, a long-time creative partner of the streaming giant, rose to defend Netflix against widespread industry scrutiny. He was joined by fellow auteur David Fincher, whose collaboration with the platform dates back to its very inception.

Del Toro pointed out that the essence of filmmaking is not dictated by the dimensions of the screen, but rather by the magnitude and depth of the ideas it explores.

“Cinema is self-defining. When a crew of 120 people pours their absolute best into a project, the audience can sense that dedication. I am certain of it. They recognize it and say, ‘This is cinema,'” the director remarked.

Fincher echoed this sentiment, asserting that Netflix represents the inevitable future of the medium.
