Take-Two Interactive has successfully intervened to prevent DT Global Investment Holdings from registering the “Vice City Subs” trademark for a proposed restaurant venture. In its legal challenge, the publisher emphasized the enduring brand recognition of GTA: Vice City and GTA: Vice City Stories, while simultaneously unveiling updated commercial performance data for the franchise.

While the sales figures for the original Vice City have remained consistent at 17.5 million units, Vice City Stories has significantly outperformed long-standing industry estimates. Previous official data from early 2008 indicated that the title had sold 4.5 million copies; however, new records reveal that the game actually achieved a lifetime total of 7 million copies. This additional 2.5 million units represents a remarkable commercial legacy for a title that debuted nearly two decades ago as a PSP and PlayStation 2 exclusive—and which is currently being revived for the PC by a dedicated fan-led porting project.
