GTA Online: Nuances of Progress Transfer in GTA Online Enhanced

The timer on the Steam page indicates that the update for GTA 5 will be available at 2:00 PM Kyiv time. We have already completed the preload and have also transferred the save in the story. It’s now a matter of figuring out how to transition from Legacy to Enhanced for those playing GTA Online.

  • No preliminary actions are necessary. Since multiplayer mode saves are on the developers’ servers, the transition happens directly after launching Enhanced. Progress is carried over from the new main menu or via the pause menu.
  • This process is done only once. However, you can continue to play Legacy in parallel, though progress will not sync between versions, and you cannot transfer it back to the original.
  • The process takes some time, during which “Online” is unavailable until a notification of successful completion appears.
  • During the transfer, player progress, characters, GTA$, stats, vehicles, property, weapons, clothing, and created jobs are duplicated.
  • If you play Enhanced first and then transfer progress from Legacy, previously earned and unspent money will disappear.
  • After the transfer, there is an option to create a new character, overwriting the old, or continue with the existing one.
  • Changes made in created jobs in Legacy will appear in Enhanced, but not vice versa. Edits made in Enhanced are only available in this version.
  • Player ratings are the same in both the updated and previous versions.
  • GTA$ purchased using “Shark Cards” after March 4 are credited to bank accounts in both Legacy and Enhanced. Put simply, donors now get double.

All the above statements only apply to PC users. Owners of PlayStation and Xbox Series X/S consoles can only transfer progress from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S.
