GTA Online Next-Gen Upgrade for GTA 5 and GTA Online on PC to be Released on March 4

Rockstar Games has announced that the PC version of GTA 5 will receive a free next-gen upgrade in a week and a half — on March 4, Tuesday. At the same time, the second part of the winter update for GTA Online will be available, which includes the opportunity to purchase an airfield in Grapeseed, previously owned by Trevor.

The update features a number of technical improvements.

  • Ray tracing features available only on PC, such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, as well as ray-traced shadows and reflections, previously only available on the latest generation consoles.
  • Support for AMD FSR1, AMD FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3 technologies.
  • Faster loading with SSD usage and DirectStorage functionality on supported devices and configurations.
  • Support for ultrawide and super-ultrawide aspect ratios and higher frame rates.
  • DualSense support, enabling adaptive triggers on PlayStation 5 controllers.
  • Enhanced audio system with support for Dolby Atmos technology and improved clarity of speech, cutscenes, and music.

The game will look even better for those with powerful computers.

Of course, to use all of the above, you’ll need a suitable PC. The developers recommend the following configurations.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (latest Service Pack)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590

System requirements for GTA 5 / GTA Online after the upgrade.

Those who don’t upgrade due to hardware limitations will still be able to play and receive updates. However, they won’t be able to join sessions with those who’ve upgraded the game (a new client will be released for this). Make sure you have the same version of “Online” to keep playing with your friends. FiveM support will also remain, and it will later be integrated with the updated version. When this happens, the above rules will apply.

This is what the main menu will look like after the upgrade.

PC owners will be able to subscribe to the paid subscription (8 dollars per month) GTA+. It will give access to some Rockstar games, as well as various perks in GTA Online: half a million, free transport, additional bonuses, exclusive clothes, and much more. Notably, the spacious Vinewood car club garage with 100 parking spots offers features like instant revenue collection from all businesses simultaneously.

One of the most interesting features offered to subscribers is, of course, the Vinewood car club garage.

New for PC will be “Career Progress” and “Character Career.” The first is a reward system for completing specific tasks across various areas of the game. The second is a service for newcomers to quickly familiarize themselves with important professions in Los Santos, such as organization chief, arms dealer, nightclub owner, or biker, and provides a starting capital of 4,000,000 GTA$.

The game world will take on new life as animals appear in free mode. Cats, deer, sharks, and many other creatures will appear in the city and Blaine County. Along with them, the “Photo Hunt” mission will be available.

Deer are just one of the 30 species of fauna players will encounter.

Standing apart is everything related to HSW (Hao’s Special Works): special races and time trials (updated weekly), as well as Hao’s tuning, which can be installed in the LS car club.

Hao will find ways to impress PC users.

Five cars, previously exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, will be available for PC users:

  • Coil Cyclone II,
  • Imponte Arbiter GT,
  • Karin S95,
  • Pegassi Weaponized Ignus (armed),
  • Pfister Astron Custom (custom).
