GTA 6007 First Light Delayed Due to GTA 6
The highly anticipated blockbuster 007: First Light has officially made its debut, bringing the legendary secret agent to the forefront of modern gaming. Interestingly, the title’s release strategy was directly influenced by the shifting launch window of GTA 6, which recently pushed its debut to the autumn season.
IO Interactive, the creative powerhouse behind the acclaimed Hitman franchise, had originally penciled in a March 27 release date for their ambitious project. Going head-to-head with the cultural juggernaut of Grand Theft Auto VI—which was initially slated for May 26—was viewed by the studio as a strategic liability. At the time, studio head Hakan Abrak even spoke optimistically about the prospect of two industry titans sharing the stage within a tight two-month window.
However, once it became clear that the world’s most anticipated release was being rescheduled, the Danish developers seized the opportunity to shift their own launch to May 27. Abrak has since been transparent about the direct correlation between the two scheduling adjustments.
“It would be disingenuous to claim I’m indifferent. GTA is an absolute behemoth in our industry. Its delay granted us some essential breathing room, allowing us the time to further refine the game and ensure it hits the level of polish we demand. We certainly don’t wish any ill will toward them; they clearly had their own valid reasons for the postponement. I’m confident the final product will be extraordinary.”
