Yesterday, we noticed that on the page of the singer Anita Ward on Spotify, her photo was replaced by the logo of GTA 6 as the main image. This sparked discussion within the community about whether her biggest hit, Ring My Bell, would be featured in the second trailer. Even if the events don’t take place in Vice City of the ’80s, it would still musically transport us to that era.
There are several reasons to be cautious. If there were a collaboration, the artist’s management would be bound by a strict nondisclosure agreement and wouldn’t release such information in any way. And if they are involved, dismissing it as mere speculation for hype is also possible – we’ve seen that before (example 1, example 2). Users suggest that hacking into Spotify and changing data there is not a problem. So, we approach the situation with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the great song and pondering what other tracks would fit perfectly into the game’s atmosphere or which ones we’d personally love to hear.
The motives might seem familiar because a variation of Ring My Bell performed by the Blood Sisters was played on radio station K-JAH West in the original GTA: San Andreas, but it was removed in the mobile remasters and absent in subsequent versions.
