GTA 6 Musical Rumor: Drake, Jermaine Dupri and Skrilla

Actors collaborating with Rockstar Games, especially those involved in GTA 6, adhere to ironclad non-disclosure agreements. Yet musicians whose tracks might feature in the game—and their teams—seem to operate without any NDA. It appears labels handle the licensing, leaving artists to learn of their inclusion only afterward—and then boast about it. Or perhaps some simply exaggerate to chase fleeting attention and streaming spikes. In any case, these performers hardly qualify as underpaid. Is this the handiwork of ambitious managers, or a symptom of no real repercussions?

Last year, at least two artists—T-Pain and ScHoolboy Q—publicly announced their work on the next installment. In recent months, two more names have been added to the list.

In June, producer-rapper Jermaine Dupri revealed in an interview that Rockstar invited him to create a custom radio station for Grand Theft Auto—similar to one rumored for Canadian superstar Drake, who might even debut exclusive tracks for the new Online experience (or perhaps the previous one?). Curiously, neither Dupri nor Drake has any prior credits on a GTA title.

Just last week on the Skrilla podcast, one musician confessed he’s been playing GTA Online as himself—decked out in his trademark wardrobe and driving replicas of his real-life cars. Then he dropped the bomb: his track “Doot Doot (6 7)” will appear in GTA 6.

“Doot Doot (6 7)” went viral earlier this year after a lyric nodding to Philadelphia’s 67th Street made it a TikTok sensation, spawning countless memes and dance clips.
