GTA 6 Insider: Cryptocurrency Removed From GTA 6
In 2021, prominent industry insider Tom Henderson sparked significant discussion by suggesting that Grand Theft Auto VI would incorporate cryptocurrency as a functional payment method for completing various illicit contracts. However, looking back years later, Henderson has clarified that this digital currency feature was abandoned during the development process.
I believe this was scrapped years ago

Henderson explicitly noted that the proposed mechanic was designed solely as an immersive alternative reward for missions, carrying no connection to real-world blockchain exchanges. Any theories regarding the ability to earn actual money through GTA VI were either unfounded speculation or deliberate misinformation.
It was just another means of “payment” for missions like in-game cash or whatever. I think people thought you could actually connect your GTA account with real-life crypto, which was never the case lol

The decision to discard this feature is somewhat regrettable, as crypto-financed operations would have aligned perfectly with a modern-day setting. Nevertheless, it remains highly likely that Rockstar Games will satirize the cryptocurrency craze through parody brands or biting dialogue, continuing the trend of social commentary seen with NFTs in GTA Online.
