In the conversation where the head of Take-Two discussed the release of GTA 6 on PC, other topics were also covered. Specifically, there was a question about the future of the series, to which Zelnick queried:
GTA 7?
The interviewer then expressed hope that the gap between the sixth and the next installment would be less than 12 years. The response was clear:
Rockstar Games didn’t release GTA 5 and then sit idle… The company produced a significant amount of content for “Online” and a “small” project called RDR 2.
Of course, the CEO’s reaction, mentioning “seven,” was ironically exaggerated. Naturally, no one is currently working on such a game. But let’s remember this moment: this is the first time the seventh installment has been mentioned, and Zelnick has previously stated that he views Grand Theft Auto as an “eternal” series like “Bond”.
The community has already picked up on the “announcement,” starting to create fan-made logos for GTA 7. The results aren’t great so far, but they’ll surely improve over time.
