Gem Sprites Coming to Fortnite on August 6

Epic Games has officially confirmed that a dazzling array of Gem Sprite variants is launching in Fortnite on August 6.

Scheduled to drop at 9:00 AM ET (2:00 PM BST) to celebrate this week’s dedicated New Sprite Day, this update infuses Battle Royale with eight brand-new Gem Sprites. Combined with the previously released Gem Llama Sprite from the v41.30 update, the complete collection will total nine items. Fans can look forward to acquiring the following shimmering variants:

Water
Earth
Duck
Demon
Aura
Punk
Zero Point
Grim
Llama

True to their functional design, these Gem variants preserve all the original capabilities of their standard counterparts while granting an invaluable secondary perk. Equipped with a Gem Sprite, players will enjoy a permanent 30% reduction in fall damage—an effect that stacks directly on top of the base Sprite’s intrinsic abilities.

You’ll be able to discover Gem Sprites primarily inside Sprite Chests, which will boast significantly boosted drop rates throughout New Sprite Day. Additionally, a special event dubbed “Gem Hours” will kick off on August 8, making it even simpler to track down these crystalline companions.

However, developers have assured the community that these prematurely obtained variants will seamlessly reappear in player lockers once the official rollout goes live.
