Game Update 1.2.2

Greetings, 007 First Light community,
We’ve been closely monitoring your feedback regarding performance following the recent Path Tracing update, as well as your inquiries concerning our published PC specifications. While 007 First Light is an exceptionally detailed and visually demanding title when path tracing is active, we are confident that players can achieve a stellar experience on compatible hardware by utilizing the optimal configuration of settings.
To help manage this heavy graphical workload, 007 First Light incorporates NVIDIA’s comprehensive suite of DLSS technologies, empowering you to strike the perfect equilibrium between uncompromising visual fidelity and fluid performance.
Building upon last week’s hotfix—which successfully resolved several GPU stability issues—we are rolling out a brand-new hotfix today. This update introduces further enhancements to overall performance and image quality, alongside a more streamlined user experience when enabling path tracing.
Today’s hotfix introduces a convenient option to automatically apply recommended default settings for a frictionless experience. However, should you prefer a customized approach, we have also provided refined configuration guidelines to help you extract the absolute best path tracing experience from your RTX-series graphics card.
Recommended Settings
Before diving in, ensure your operating system, game build, and graphics drivers are fully updated. Use the following configuration as your baseline:
Options > Graphics > [R] Restore to Defaults
- Depending on your monitor specifications and personal preference, you may wish to toggle Options > Graphics > VSync > Off.
Select the Path Tracing preset tailored to your specific GPU architecture:
- Medium: Recommended for RTX 5070 and RTX 5080
- High: Recommended for RTX 5090
Configure your native fullscreen resolution based on your graphics card capabilities:
- 1080p: RTX 5070
- 1440p: RTX 5080
- Up to 4K: RTX 5090
Resolution Scaling > NVIDIA DLSS
- DLSS Super Resolution > Auto (This mode intelligently selects the ideal upscaling ratio dynamically matched to your active fullscreen resolution).
Enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation
- Multi Frame Generation scaling ranges from 2X (yielding one generated frame) up to 6X (five generated frames), adjustable to your preference.
- Alternatively, you can activate Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, which autonomously adjusts the multiplier on the fly to guarantee a consistently smooth framerate.
Performance Expectations
With our recommended configurations implemented, you can anticipate stable benchmarks of roughly 60 FPS on the RTX 5070 at 1080p, and approximately 60 FPS on the RTX 5080 at 1440p, varying slightly depending on the specific mission and checkpoint.
By incorporating 2x DLSS Frame Generation alongside DLSS Super Resolution set to Auto, players can comfortably maintain well over 60 FPS throughout the entirety of the campaign.
Players wielding an RTX 5090 can look forward to exceptional results, reaching blistering frame rates exceeding 200 FPS when utilizing 6x DLSS Frame Generation. Furthermore, enabling Dynamic Multi Frame Generation will seamlessly modulate the multiplier to preserve absolute framerate stability.
Path Tracing Recommendations
007 First Light currently provides both Medium and High fidelity presets. The High preset delivers heightened visual depth through superior shading algorithms, more intricate reflection details, and increased light bounce calculations. Because this heightened accuracy demands substantial computational overhead, our primary recommendation for a balanced experience is to stick with the Medium setting unless you are operating an RTX 5090.
Thank you for your incredible passion and continued enthusiasm for cutting-edge, real-time rendering technologies.
We look forward to reading your ongoing feedback as we continue to refine, optimize, and expand upon path tracing in future updates for 007 First Light.
Patch Notes
Performance & Stability
Chapter 03 – All the Time in the World
- Optimized performance during the introductory driving sequence, hotel interior segments, and high-speed car chases with Path Tracing enabled on enthusiast-tier GPUs.
Chapter 06 – Uninvited
- Resolved a critical performance regression where framerates would plummet to 5–10 FPS upon entering the Gala ballroom and rendering crowd density with Path Tracing active on RTX 5070 cards.
Chapter 08 – Time to Die
- Fixed a stuttering bug causing severe frame drops down to 5–10 FPS during dramatic camera sweeps in the “Smoking Gun” cinematic sequence with Path Tracing enabled on RTX 5070 hardware.
Online & Tactical Simulations
- Eliminated a persistent hitching issue that triggered heavy micro-stutter when initiating online Escalation matches with Path Tracing turned on.
Gameplay & Environment
Chapter 00 – Against the Odds
- Corrected a visual artifact where environmental rain appeared unnaturally luminous and flickered aggressively during the cliffside sliding tutorial with Path Tracing enabled.
Chapter 02 – A Night Out
- Fixed an erroneous, hyper-bright reflective artifact manifesting beneath a bench within the Universal Exports foyer under Path Tracing conditions.
Chapter 04 – The Past Never Dies
- Resolved an issue where surface shadows would abruptly pop in and out of existence along the left tunnel wall preceding the auction guards.
- Fixed light leakage bleeding through solid geometry near the entrance of the Infiltration zone.
- Patched an issue where illumination bled directly through structural walls above the barred entryway leading to the restricted Bitcoin Opportunity zone.
- Corrected a layering bug where a seated NPC’s shadow rendered improperly through overlapping character models in the Black Market.
Chapter 05 – Beyond the Grave
- Fixed an absent bridge shadow mapping error that previously caused enemy character shadows to appear to hover mid-air during cinematics.
Chapter 06 – Uninvited
- Adjusted lighting parameters to prevent the Null Space environment from appearing overly shadowed despite active ceiling illumination.
Chapter 07 – Knightfall
- Resolved an improper reflection bug inside the elevator glass doors, which incorrectly projected scenery exterior to the playable level during the ride alongside Monroe.
- Fixed loose book assets on and beneath Ponsonby’s desk that exhibited erratic jittering when loading the M’s Office checkpoint.
- Erased distorted pattern anomalies mapping onto glass security enclosures encasing trees on Executive Floor 3.
- Fixed an erratic shadow bug within the 35th-floor corridor adjacent to Volta’s office that flickered based on camera orientation.
- Corrected an issue where specific camera vectors forced total screen darkening within the Diamond Lounge hallway.
- Fixed a minor texture tearing artifact flickering across a door frame within the Executive Floor 2 restroom mirrors.
Chapter 08 – Time to Die
- Eliminated distorted graphical artifacts manifesting across rock formations near the hotel pool and reception sector.
- Resolved unwanted visual noise displaying across James Bond’s white tuxedo during the bowtie interaction prompt.
