Former World’s Edge Studio Head Criticizes Xbox Leadership
Shannon Loftis believes that developers deserve different leaders.
Former World’s Edge studio head Shannon Loftis has publicly criticized Xbox executive Asha Sharma amid another round of layoffs in Microsoft’s gaming division.
Loftis’s comments were prompted by a recent article in The Wall Street Journal about Sharma. In the piece, the Xbox executive discussed her management approach and emphasized the need to talk openly about company problems. One of her key phrases was «Clarity is kindness» — «ясность — это доброта».

Against the backdrop of the new layoffs, Loftis responded with sarcasm:
It is very funny that Asha Sharma told the WSJ last week, “Clarity is kindness,” and today initiated another wave of layoffs. I suppose the Sword of Damocles is also a form of clarity. But what do I know?
The former World’s Edge head then continued criticizing Sharma’s leadership style:
Please, Asha, post more “cool” photos of your adventures with Kojima. That is precisely the kind of leadership game developers need.
