First Test of the ROG Xbox Ally X: 350 FPS in One of 2025’s Biggest Hits

The first hands-on with the ROG Xbox Ally X has revealed what Microsoft and ASUS’s new portable console can do. The piece highlights gameplay from several titles and shares performance results.

The ROG Xbox Ally X is slated to launch on October 16, 2025, but some players and journalists received units early. Detailed tests have appeared online showing how the handheld handles large, demanding games.

The Dans ta grosse poche channel published a 45-minute video after the creator mistakenly received the console from a store. The video tests Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Street Fighter 6, Gears of War: Reloaded, Elden Ring, Elden Ring: Nightreign, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

The review went beyond dry benchmarks to demonstrate a real player’s experience. Most titles ran at medium-to-high settings at 1080p. Clair Obscur stayed between 30–60 fps, Street Fighter 6 held a steady 60 fps even at low power, and Gears of War: Reloaded ran smoothly without strain.

Elden Ring and Nightreign ran at roughly 30 fps on high settings with temperatures near 75°C; switching to low settings improved frame rates and reduced temperatures to about 60°C.

Monster Hunter Wilds delivered 30–40 fps, and topped 60 fps when using AMD FSR.

The standout was Hollow Knight: Silksong — reaching up to 300–350 fps, and even at minimal power it maintained a stable 60 fps with temperatures around 46°C.
