First look at The Passion of the Christ sequel released

Lionsgate has unveiled the first official still from The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection. Directed by Mel Gibson, this two-part cinematic event is slated for release in May 2027.

Serving as a direct continuation of the 2004 original, the films will chronicle the events surrounding Jesus Christ following the Crucifixion, specifically his harrowing descent into hell. Production for the project took place on location in Rome.

The biblical epic stars Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen (The Last Kingdom) and Cuban actress Mariela Garriga (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning). It remains unconfirmed whether Resurrection will receive a theatrical release in Russia.
