First clip from Andrey Zvyagintsev’s ‘Minotaur’ released
MK2 Films has unveiled the first look at the drama Minotaur. This highly anticipated project, marking director Andrey Zvyagintsev’s (Leviathan) return after a nine-year hiatus, is set to premiere in the main competition at Cannes on May 19.
The film follows Gleb (Dmitry Mazurov), a businessman whose carefully constructed life begins to unravel amidst global turmoil and his wife’s (Iris Lebedeva) infidelity.
The movie serves as a loose reimagining of Claude Chabrol’s La Femme infidèle. Zvyagintsev’s previous work, Loveless, earned the Jury Prize at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Following that success, the director suffered a severe battle with COVID-19, which he described as bringing him to the brink of death.
