Final Fantasy VII Part 3 Is Safe — Square Enix Makes a Firm Promise

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth fell short of Square Enix’s expectations after launching on PlayStation 5 and PC, but that doesn’t endanger the prospects for the third installment.

In a few months Rebirth’s player base will grow as the game is set to release on Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix is optimistic about continuing Cloud and his companions’ journey on these new platforms, so there’s no cause for concern regarding Final Fantasy VII Part III.

Game director Naoki Hamaguchi addressed the title’s performance on PS5 and PC. He echoed Yoshinori Kitase’s earlier comments that sales reached a satisfactory level. Hamaguchi noted that development of the third part is moving along smoothly and the game’s quality will be maintained.

“Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is posting excellent results on both PS5 and PC. I know some fans have expressed concerns, but I assure you we will deliver a polished, high-quality third chapter. Development is in full swing and the game is taking shape. Many systems are already playable, and the overall direction and structure are established. The team is now concentrating on fine-tuning.”
