The new season of “Ahsoka” promises sweeping developments to the storyline and the return of pivotal characters from the saga.
Actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who portrays Sabine Wren, confirmed that principal photography for the second season of the series for Disney Plus has wrapped. Shooting for the eight episodes spanned roughly five months.
Bordizzo posted on social media a silhouette image of her character alongside Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), captioning the photo: “And as for this journey… it only gets more epic.”
Filming for the second season began in late April at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, just a few days after the Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
At the convention, showrunner Dave Filoni and series star Rosario Dawson led a panel that revisited the first season and outlined a larger, more ambitious storyline.
They also confirmed that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker, Rory McCann will step in for the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, and the new season will depict a full-scale war against Grand Admiral Thrawn under Admiral Ackbar’s command.
Other confirmed returning cast members include Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, David Tennant, and Ivanna Sakhno, all reprising their roles from the first season.
Bryce Dallas Howard revealed she directed two episodes; other directors attached to the season include Jennifer Getzinger, Anders Engström, and Dave Filoni, who wrote the scripts for all eight episodes.
The second season of “Ahsoka” is scheduled to premiere in 2026 and is, preliminarily, expected to debut in late summer, mirroring the first season’s release window.
After that, Filoni will concentrate on a feature film that he will both write and direct. The movie is intended to serve as the culmination of events within the MandoVerse and related projects.
