Filming Concludes on Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

The upcoming season will adapt George R. R. Martin’s novella The Sworn Sword.

Filming has wrapped on the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, announced that work on the set has finished, and the Game of Thrones prequel is now moving into post-production.

Production was originally scheduled to end in June, but weather conditions in the Canary Islands complicated the shoot. The creators chose the local arid landscapes to depict the drought-stricken Reach, but a once-in-a-century storm hit the islands during filming. The set flooded, and local authorities declared a state of emergency, forcing production to pause multiple times.

The second season is based on George R. R. Martin’s novella The Sworn Sword. Dunk and Egg enter the service of the impoverished knight Eustace Osgrey and become drawn into his conflict with Lady Rohanne Webber, known as the Red Widow. Showrunner Ira Parker previously shared that George R. R. Martin provided the creators with unpublished drafts from his archives. Viewers will receive additional content that was not in the original novella as a result.

Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell will return as Dunk and Egg. New cast members include Lucy Boynton as Rohanne Webber, Peter Mullan as Sir Eustace Osgrey, and Babou Ceesay as Sir Bennis of the Brown Shield.

Despite the production delays, the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is still scheduled for release in the first half of 2027. The continuation will consist of six episodes, with each running for approximately 35 minutes.
