FBI Offers $15,000 Reward for Information on Newborn Found at Electric Forest Festival

Editor’s note: The following report details the discovery of an infant’s remains, which may be distressing to some readers.

Law enforcement officials in Rothbury, Michigan, continue to seek public assistance regarding the tragic death of a newborn whose remains were discovered inside a portable restroom at the Electric Forest festival on June 28—the event’s final day. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has now formally joined the investigation, announcing a reward of up to $15,000 for details that lead to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible.

The infant’s body was initially located by a sanitation worker servicing the facilities within the festival’s “Good Life” camping sector. While investigators have remained tight-lipped regarding specific details such as the cause of death or the child’s identity, Michigan State Police confirmed on July 14 that autopsy results suggest the baby was born alive and was considered viable.

To date, no suspects have been apprehended. Investigators previously vetted a person of interest—a festival attendee from Muskegon—who cooperated with authorities and was subsequently cleared of any involvement. “The Michigan State Police remain steadfast in our commitment to this investigation,” officials stated via social media. “We believe that a combination of forensic science and ongoing investigative efforts will ultimately bring justice to the person responsible.”

Authorities acknowledge that many festival-goers may possess crucial information but might be hesitant to come forward. Witnesses or anyone with relevant details are urged to contact the Michigan State Police via their official portal or by calling 1-855-MICH-TIP (1-855-642-4847).

The four-day event, which drew an estimated 50,000 attendees to the Double JJ Ranch from June 25–28, featured performances by artists including Kaskade, Excision, Bob Moses, and Griz.
