Fans Spot Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake Hint in Ubisoft’s New Year Greeting

Fans continue to hold out for a formal reveal.

Speculation regarding a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been circulating for quite some time. Last November, dataminers uncovered evidence within the game files of AC Shadows that suggested such a project is indeed in active development.

Now, a fresh wave of theories has emerged following a holiday greeting from Ubisoft Nordic, which specifically references the seafaring life:

Looking ahead from 2025 to 2026, our momentum is stronger than ever. Assassins are leaping across rooftops, pirates are outfitting their vessels, and operators are striking with tactical precision. Another year exploring Ubisoft’s vast worlds is upon us. We wish you a safe and joyful New Year!

There is a caveat to consider: Ubisoft already manages another pirate-themed title, Skull and Bones. It is entirely possible that this greeting was simply acknowledging that live-service game rather than hinting at a Black Flag revival.

On the other hand, reports from industry insiders suggest a more specific timeline: a remake allegedly titled “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced” could potentially launch as early as late March 2026.
