Charlie Puth’s latest single, “Changes,” claimed first place in Billboard’s fan-voted poll of new releases.

The reader poll, which was posted Friday, Oct. 17, saw voters select Puth’s song as their preferred new track.

“Changes” debuted Thursday alongside new offerings from Morgan Wallen, Tame Impala, Teddy Swims, 5 Seconds of Summer and several others.

The ’80s-tinged single was released with an upbeat music video that also revealed that his wife, Brooke, is expecting. The rollout included the announcement that Puth’s fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, is scheduled for release on March 6. A press statement described the song and video as an introspective look at changes in both his personal life and his career.

The chorus pairs an airy, memorable melody with lyrics that reflect on distance and the passage of time, conveying how life’s shifts can alter everything from day to night.

Whatever’s Clever! follows 2022’s Charlie, which included Hot 100 top 40 hits such as “Light Switch” and the Jung Kook collaboration “Left and Right.” The forthcoming album will be released through Atlantic Records.

Trailing Puth on the poll were Morgan Wallen’s “Graveyard Whistling” (20% of votes), Tame Impala’s “Deadbeat” (14%), Teddy Swims’ “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming” (7%) and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Boyband” (6%).
