The universe of Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 is poised for a significant expansion. As the first title to sweep all five prestigious Game of the Year honors in 2023, the RPG redefined the genre within the Dungeons & Dragons ecosystem. In an exclusive revelation, it has been confirmed that Wizards of the Coast is partnering with Random House Worlds to delve deeper into the game’s rich tapestry of lore and iconic characters. This ambitious literary initiative will launch with four distinct titles in 2026, with further expansions slated for 2027 and beyond.

Leading the charge is Baldur’s Gate 3: Astarion. Penned by award-winning, New York Times bestselling author T. Kingfisher, this prequel novel is scheduled for a September 29 release. The story chronicles the enigmatic High Elf’s harrowing years under the thumb of the vampire lord Cazador Szarr, long before the events of the game. To maintain strict narrative fidelity, the project was developed in close collaboration with the game’s senior writer, Stephen Rooney. Fans can also look forward to an immersive audiobook experience narrated by Neil Newbon, who earned widespread acclaim and a Game Award for his unforgettable portrayal of the character.

Beyond prose, the collection includes interactive treasures. On July 21, Clarkson Potter will release Baldur’s Gate 3: The Necromancy of Thay—a premium, grid-paper journal that faithfully recreates the infamous in-game artifact, complete with an embossed skull, intricate foil detailing, and latch-style closures. As the summer progresses, Ten Speed Press will debut The Official Baldur’s Gate 3 Coloring Book, featuring 40 bespoke illustrations by artist Jaki King that capture the game’s diverse cast, settings, and bestiary.

The literary celebration continues on November 3 with A Feast for a Tenday: The Official Baldur’s Gate Cookbook, crafted by Andrew Wheeler. This culinary guide offers 65 recipes categorized by course and region, providing a taste of Faerûn at your own dinner table. A playful nod to the fanbase is included: dishes suitable for sharing are thoughtfully labeled as “Romanceable.”

This surge in multimedia projects underscores the enduring cultural impact of Baldur’s Gate 3. With rumors of a potential television series helmed by The Last of Us and Chernobyl producer Craig Mazin still circulating, it is clear that the journey through the Forgotten Realms is only just beginning. Whether through the pages of a novel, the stroke of a coloring pen, or the hearth of a kitchen, the world of Baldur’s Gate remains vibrant, expansive, and more accessible than ever.
