Erykah Badu Feuds With “Surviving R. Kelly” Producer, Denies That She Was Asked to Participate

Today, after offering a “prayer” for R. Kelly throughout a live performance in Chicago on Saturday, Erykah Badu took to Twitter to disclaim stories that she refused to appear in Lifetime’s latest docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly.” “That’s not true. I’ve never worked with him, don’t know him personally, and was never asked to be a part of the documentary,” she tweeted.

dream hampton—the collection producer who beforehand claimed that Badu was requested to take part—confronted Badu, asserting that the artist was requested to be within the documentary on account of her reward of Kelly on the 2015 Soul Train Awards. As the award present host, Badu launched Kelly to the stage for his efficiency as her “brother” and mentioned he “has done more for black people than anyone.”
