Epic Games has revealed that it’ll shoulder the price of Shenmue Three refunds so it doesn’t take away from the game’s price range.
Shenmue 3, solely the latest crowdfunded game to search out itself in scorching water after going Epic Store-exclusive, has lately resolved its damaged guarantees drawback by providing refunds to players who were promised it would release on Steam.
It seems, Epic is the one bankrolling these refunds. Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed this on Twitter, including that Ys Net gained’t have to fret about reducing its price range to account for refunds.
More curiously, although, Sweeney says this example gained’t repeat sooner or later. If a crowdfunded game goes Epic Store-exclusive after promising keys on completely different platforms, the corporate will “coordinate with colleagues at the other stores to ensure key availability in advance”. Failing that, Epic will be sure that refunds are issued to these bored with ready.
When future games go Epic-exclusive after providing crowdfunding rewards on different PC shops, we’ll both coordinate with colleagues on the different shops to make sure key availability prematurely, or assure refunds at announcement time.
