Elvira Urges Ariana Grande to Be ‘More Humble’ After ‘Offensive’ Interaction and Apology

Cassandra Peterson, the iconic Elvira, has again voiced her displeasure with Ariana Grande, telling Entertainment Weekly on October 3, 2025, that she stands by the unpleasant encounter she described years ago.

In the interview, Peterson reiterated that the exchange actually happened and called it “very offensive,” adding that many performers who visited her show had been courteous — a contrast, she said, to her memory of Grande’s behavior.

Peterson reflected on how disappointed she felt upon learning details of the meeting, saying she expects kindness from fellow entertainers and was saddened by what she remembered.

The remarks revive a story Peterson first shared roughly seven years earlier about meeting Grande at an industry event. According to Peterson, Grande arrived with a large entourage and asked for photos with many of her guests; after Peterson had photographed and signed for everyone, she says she requested a picture with Grande, who replied, “Nah, I don’t really do that.”

Grande responded publicly in October 2024 on Instagram, explaining that she didn’t recall the meeting and believed she had left early because of an anxiety attack. She offered an apology in case her recollection was mistaken.

Speaking to EW, Peterson said Grande’s response didn’t fully address her feelings, implying the apology felt halfhearted. She added that artists often grow more humble with time in the business and expressed hope Grande might learn from the experience.

Since the disputed encounter, Grande’s career has continued to flourish. Her albums Thank U, Next, Positions and Eternal Sunshine each reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She also landed the role of Glinda in the Wicked films and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2024. The franchise’s second installment, Wicked: For Good, is scheduled to premiere in November 2025.
