Eill Discusses Her Distinctive Second EP ‘ACTION’ and Long-Awaited Asian Tour: Interview

Since her major‑label debut in April 2024, eill has captivated listeners with a distinctive voice and an adventurous musical sensibility. On November 5, 2025 she will release her second EP, ACTION, her first physical release in three and a half years. The six‑track record showcases a range of moods and approaches, and its title cut, “ACTION,” serves as the ending theme for the second arc (the Nerima Arc) of the anime TOUGEN ANKI: Legend of the Cursed Blood.

In a wide‑ranging conversation with Billboard Japan, eill spoke about the EP’s creation, the songs’ inspirations and the upcoming ACTION TOUR 2025–2026, which kicks off this November and will bring her to multiple Asian cities.

Writing “ACTION” — balancing dance energy with anime drama

When asked about the title track and its connection to the anime, eill explained that she deliberately avoided making a generic pop tie‑in. Instead, she drew on new jack swing influences to craft a song that could hold its own as a dance piece while still reflecting the intensity of the show’s battle sequences. She and her collaborators studied period sounds and experimented with synth textures until they found the right tone.

The decision to lean into that aesthetic wasn’t a directive from the anime’s producers; it came from eill’s own sense of what would complement the visuals. She wanted dynamics — delicate moments and explosive passages — so the music could mirror the ebb and flow of the action on screen while remaining engaging enough for listeners to move to.

How the title “ACTION” took shape

The EP’s name has a playful origin. While recording a guide vocal, a producer’s accidental sneeze — which amusingly sounded like “hakushon” — landed on tape. The finished track opens with a scratch and a voice that pronounces “ACTION” exactly where that candid moment occurred. The team loved the spontaneous effect, and the word stuck as the record’s title.

“last scene.” — a cinematic approach

“last scene.” — the theme for season three of the Prime Video series Love Transit — began as an older demo that eill later reworked. To give the song a cinematic sweep appropriate for the show’s emotionally resonant storytelling, she added string arrangements and retooled the production. Her aim was to create a piece that evokes memory and reflection — something listeners might turn to after moments of heartbreak or personal crossroads.

“what am i made for?” — searching for purpose through music

The introspective track “what am i made for?” is one of the newest songs on the EP and reflects eill’s current frame of mind. After a period of busy schedules and intensive live work, she found herself asking why she keeps creating music. Those doubts and the relief she feels when a performance or a strong song resolves them became the emotional backbone of the lyrics.

“NEEMIA” — playful nonsense with emotional roots

“NEEMIA” began from a moment of wordless play: eill wanted a repeating vocal hook that didn’t necessarily mean anything. The made‑up syllable “neemia” felt right and stuck in the demo, and the finished song mixes that playful, almost nonsensical element with lyrics that hint at deeper feelings. For listeners familiar with her earlier indie work, it can also inspire a sense of nostalgia.

Preparing for ACTION TOUR 2025–2026

Touring Asia has been a long‑held ambition for eill, and she’s thrilled to finally make it happen. The route spans five cities and includes stops across Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, China and Hong Kong, alongside dates in Japan. More than just performances, the trip is a chance to connect with different cultures and savor local experiences — from Taiwan’s java sparrow fortune‑tellers to Thailand’s bustling night markets.

She also shared personal travel pleasures: catching up with collaborators (she hopes to reunite with the artist LUSS), enjoying casual late‑night snacks in Korea, and indulging in Shanghai beauty finds. The humidity of Hong Kong even appeals to her; she keeps her home humidified to preserve her voice, so the city’s climate feels welcoming.

Onstage intentions and future plans

For eill, live shows are about both emotion and movement. While her songs carry intimate feeling, she wants audiences to surrender to the music physically — to dance, raise their hands and be honest about their impulses. That raw, present energy is what she hopes the ACTION tour will spark.

Looking beyond the tour, eill isn’t setting rigid targets. She values momentum and is focused on embracing each day and confronting her own doubts. By doing that, she believes she can shape her future — one song and one performance at a time.
