Disney+ to Release “Artemis Fowl” Animated Series

During the New York Comic Con, Disney+ officially announced the development of an animated series based on the beloved Artemis Fowl fantasy novels.

Eoin Colfer, the Irish author behind the original book series, is set to serve as an executive producer. The narrative follows Artemis Fowl, a brilliant 13-year-old prodigy and scion of a legendary criminal family. When his father mysteriously vanishes, the young protagonist embarks on a quest to rescue him by enlisting the help of extraordinary creatures from the underground world.

The franchise previously received a live-action adaptation in 2020 directed by Kenneth Branagh. Released directly on Disney+, the film was met with widespread critical disapproval. That production featured an ensemble cast including Colin Farrell, Judi Dench, and Josh Gad.
