Disney CEO Plans to Resign

The Walt Disney Company’s Chief Executive, Bob Iger, is reportedly preparing to vacate his position ahead of schedule. Although his formal contract isn’t set to expire until December 31, 2026, rumors suggest an earlier exit. Iger’s potential departure is being attributed to executive burnout and a series of industry-wide frictions, including the recent shakeup at ABC following Jimmy Kimmel’s exit in September.

Disney’s board of directors is poised to reveal a potential successor as early as the start of this year. A pivotal summit is scheduled for February in Burbank to vet prospective candidates. To ensure a seamless transition of power, the incoming leader is expected to undergo a mentorship period under Iger’s direct guidance to master the studio’s complex operations.

While the shortlist of contenders remains under wraps, the appointment of a new chief executive will undoubtedly be the most significant milestone for the entertainment titan this year.
