The protagonist will have to investigate mysterious arsons.

Argo Tuulik, one of the key writers of the acclaimed Disco Elysium, recently presented his new project called Red Rooster. The game is positioned as an “incendiary role-playing game” with an emphasis on a physics system, combining the best features of “thoughtful RPGs with a detailed world and the genes of physically accurate immersive sims.”

Players in Red Rooster take on the role of Redrik Rust, a white-collar prisoner serving a life sentence. Suddenly, the protagonist is appointed as a fire investigator and given a mathematician as a partner. Together, they must investigate a mysterious series of arsons. If the hero accomplishes this task, he will receive a pardon:

A week before his parole hearing, a high-ranking employee of a low-profile government agency approaches Redrik with an offer: infiltrate a local fire station managed by your brother and track down the serial arsonist suspected of hiding within their ranks.

The game’s events unfold in “a world of magical realism, similar to ours, but still separate.” According to the author, the world is inspired by a combination of “the sun-drenched 1980s Yugoslav Riviera and the Eastern Bloc,” blending influences from Ottoman culture, Scandinavian social democracies, and the colonial Dutch Empire.

The Red Rooster project website is available at the following link. The game does not yet have a specific release date or launch window.
