PlayStation’s June State of Play event was packed with major announcements, ranging from a gritty first look at Marvel’s Wolverine to the global debut of God of War: Laufey. Among the highlights was a brand-new trailer for Control: Resonant, which finally provided a release date for Remedy Entertainment’s highly anticipated sequel. For those watching the stream with undivided attention, the bold, crimson text flashing across the screen—confirming a September 24 launch—was impossible to miss.
However, for journalists frantically juggling live coverage—typing updates in real-time while capturing screenshots—it was remarkably easy to overlook that specific frame. Those relying solely on the trailer’s official YouTube description were misled by a conflicting date, which erroneously listed the launch for August 27 instead of September 24.
It appears that plans may have shifted at the eleventh hour, yet the incorrect August date remains visible on the official PlayStation YouTube channel as of this writing. Despite the confusion caused by the conflicting information, a representative from Remedy Entertainment clarified the situation to Polygon: “The release date is the 24th of September; if you see any other date listed, it is incorrect.” Polygon has also contacted Sony for further clarification.
