Developers of The First Descendant say incorporating sexual appeal is a form of art
Producer Beom-joon Lee and director Min-seok Do discussed upcoming crossovers and their approach to designing sensual characters.
Following the announcement of the Bayonetta crossover, scheduled for November 6, 2025, Nexon’s development team revealed they are working on several additional collaborations with well-known franchises. These partnerships will introduce new cosmetic items and content, all crafted to match The First Descendant’s visual style and gameplay.
In the interview they outlined the criteria for selecting collaborations. Beyond sheer popularity, a franchise must share the “strong sense of speed and dynamism” that defines The First Descendant. Those qualities are present in the crossovers with NieR: Automata and Bayonetta, and the developers noted they are fans of those series themselves.
They also explained how the game’s signature sensual costumes are conceived.
“Take the popular Bunny Descendant as an example. The original concept was simply ‘someone who can run quickly.’ From that came the idea: ‘That evokes a rabbit.’ When the concept reaches the designers, they refine it in detail. For instance: ‘Don’t reveal the face, but keep a provocative outfit.’ Every element is carefully considered.”
According to the team, sensuality is treated as an artistic element and is applied thoughtfully across all aspects of The First Descendant.
The First Descendant is available free-to-play on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
